Tendai Gatsi

Born in Guruve in 1972 I did my "O" level in Shamva in 1990. Just after school I started sculpting in Chitungwiza. I participated in many exhibitions in and out of this country. Some of my works are shown in the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (Harare), Stone Heritage, and Pamambo Lodge to mention just a few. Overseas, I have works exhibited in America, France, Portugal, Britain, Ireland and many other places around the world. My first teacher of sculpture was Nesbert Mukomberanwa and of course being inspired by my brothers. Nicolas Mukomberanwa, Nesbert's uncle also helped me in most of my creations during the early moments. Until now my creations are massive expressions of human's day-to-day life and the Shona surroundings. Also most of my work comprises sharp edges and accurate, curly and straight lines as part of my art identification.
