A Shona of the Korekore tribe, Skebios Mugugu was born in 1974 in the
Guruve district of Zimbabwe where he received his primary and secondary
education.
With the support and advice of one of Zimbabwe's foremost sculptors, Henry Munyaradzi, Mugugu began sculpting in 1988 as a schoolboy at the age of 14. Now sculpting full time, Skebios' ambition is to perfect his art until he becomes one of the most outstanding and individualistic artists to emerge from Zimbabwe. Preferring the harder serpentines for their resistance and surface finish, Mugugu's sculpture incorporates a profound sense of his tribal heritage and has attracted widespread interest.
This young artist has taken part in a number of group exhibitions in Zimbabwe and his work can be found at several galleries in Zimbabwe's capital city of Harare.
